Mining
The group has three mines allocated to them:
1. Roida Mines at Barbil allotted to MISL. This is a private mine, the products of which can be sold in the open market and is not linked to any captive consumption.
2. Malangtoli Mines located around 50 Kms away from Roida mines is allotted to MESCO Steel Ltd. This is a captive mine for the steel plants of MESCO Group and for supply of ore to other steel manufacturers in the Dubri region, i.e the place where MISL plant is located.
3. Kalinga Mines is allotted to MESCO Kalinga Ltd. for captive use for manufacture of steel.
Of the above three mines only Roida mines is now in operation and the Malangtoli mines is proposed to be put into operation to coincide with the 3 million tonne plant of MISL. The mine is operated by fully mechanized opencast method of working. Presently the mine is operating at an annual capacity of 3 million tones & plans to expand further to 5 million tonnes. Operations at Roida mines are fully mechanized, the company has put following equipment at mines:
- 100 TPH Crusher – 1 No.
- 200 TPH Crusher – 1 No.
In addition to above the company has taken 2 crushers from outside parties on contract, which are exclusively used for MISL production.

Maintenance
There are 4-5 rail heads within a distance of around 15 - 30 Km of Roida Iron Ore Mines. The
company is moving material through trucks to the rail heads for onward transportation by rail.
Roida Iron ore mines is well connected with state highways, the company is moving its material
through rail as well road.
